Driving back home from LA after the spring vacation was a long journey, and when we finally reached the Gilroy outlet mall, we were all hungry, so we stopped at Fresh Choice to have lunch.
Wendar finished her lunch quickly and wanted to buy some summer clothes for the kids who seem to be constantly outgrowing their clothes. She told us that she would go to the Gap at the other end of the outlet mall, and that when we were done, to drive over and pick her up either at the Gap or stores nearby.
As the boys and I do not enjoy shopping, we casually ate our lunch and enjoyed our dessert. After we finally finished, we drove over to the other end of the mall, went into the Gap to look for Wendar, but she was nowhere to be found. We went through all the aisles, over and over again, but could not find her. We went down to the next store, the one after that, thoroughly searching every store, one by one, until we got back to Fresh Choice at the other end, but we still could not find her. We wanted to call Wendar on her cell phone, but we knew that she always kept her phone off so it was useless. We backtracked again, searching each store until we arrived once again at the Gap. We then proceeded to go through all of the stores yet again but still could not find her. By that time, we were thoroughly exhausted, and so we sat down to rest and determine what to do next. At that time, Daniel, my 10-year-old son, said “we should ask St. Anthony to pray for us since we ‘lost’ our mom.” I told him that was good, but as we all have a direct connection to Jesus, I asked him to pray to Jesus directly. He made the sign of the Cross, and prayed that Jesus will help us find our lost mom. At that time, I also remembered the touching scene in the movie ‘Passion of the Christ’ when Jesus was in the underground jail, Mary put her face on the ground above him and their hearts connected. I remembered that there is a direct connection exists between mother and child in their hearts, so I asked Brandon to call mom in his heart. Brandon closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and gathered all his strength and called out “Mommy! Mommy!” quietly deep in his heart. Both of them did what I asked them to, and then we all stood up to start our search again. Just at that moment, Wendar suddenly appeared right in front of us and waved at us. +Tony 4/2004 Keyword: Pray Unceasingly
