Here is a viral pps with interesting pictures from the Space Shuttle. Enjoy!
There is a new song called “Precious Corner”. I love it very much, and it makes me cry and it also makes me feel very happy.
Have you ever whistle when you walk into the office in the morning? I was so happy listening to this song (over and over) on my commute to work this morning, I whistled my way out of the parking garage into the office building. It stayed with me through the day!

It’s not my norm to be complaining about a product but I feel I really need to let people know about my negative experience with the 500 GB Western Digital NetCenter Network Hard Drive.
It started off to be an excellent choice for our application, I was really proud and happy that I made the choice. It is high capacity external disk drive at a very reasonable price. It plugs into the home network, and very easy to install, use, and share files within a family network. We used it for a while as a family central back up, photo album/media server. We set it up so on different nights, each of our computers do incremental back up to this system automatically every week. It’s not very fast, but it seem to do the job. Since it plugs into the network instead of USB port, it does not depend on any other computers to be available to work.
However, after a while, we started getting disk errors, especially during backups when large GB size files are being written to the disk. This started intermittently but after a while, it becomes consistent. And, even smaller photo files are failing. I tried to research ways to run check disk or to avoid hitting the bad spots, it was fruitless. People seem to have similar problems also.
During the Christmas holiday, I finally went tot he Wester Digital support site and file a bug. I got a non-informational confirmation response almost right away, but I did not get any help for over 3 weeks. I wrote back a couple of times but there was no response until today. (see below)
I finally received a response saying “There are no diagnostics to check the drive or the file system of the NetCenter. Additionally, there is no way to reformat the drive either.”
I am very upset that there is no diagnostics to check the drive or to reformat the drive. This nice looking device is really useless to us when it can’t be used reliably.

| Dear Tony,Thank you for contacting Western Digital Customer Service and Support.I apologize for the long delay in replying to you. Our return time is more than usual due to heavier than normal e-mail volume. Nonetheless, we do respond to all e-mails we receive even if there is a delay. What size are the files you’re trying to copy to your drive? There are no diagnostics to check the drive or the file system of the NetCenter. Additionally, there is no way to reformat the drive either.
Sincerely, |
|

| I am getting errors whenever I copy larger files to my 500 GB WD Netcenter, is there a check disk type of utility I can use? I looked all over the Netcenter Manager and the support site and could not find anything. Thanks, +Tony |
